Operation Pea Purge

So, Ellie pushed a pea up her left nostril at dinner last night. Actually, this was the 2nd pea of the week and the 4th object in a series of food up her nose! We were able to get the other 3 objects out, but this pea was really stuck. We couldn't get it out last night after 1.5 hours of trying, so Ellie's pediatrician told us to bring her in this morning. Here she is having breakfast just before her doctor's appointment this morning...she was really out of sorts.

Ellie went to the pediatrician's office at 9am, but Dr. M couldn't get out the pea, either. She said the pea was up past the 1st bone in Ellie's nose and referred Ellie to a local EENT. Here's Ellie back at home between appointments...she was still very upset and uncharacteristically quiet.

Ellie's EENT appointment was at 1pm, right at the start of her usual naptime. She couldn't eat beforehand in case they needed to sedate her. Fortunately, the doctor got out the pea with minimal fuss and discomfort; Annette said he was amazing with Ellie, too. Ellie had some bleeding because the pea had dried out a bit, so he treated her with an antibiotic cream. Here she is back at home right after her appointment...we gave her a quick lunch, then hustled her off to bed.

And finally, here's Ellie right now, asleep from all the excitement of the past 20 hours. I hope she'll take a long, restful nap! Operation Pea Purge has really taken a toll on her.
