Ah yes. Our house, the morning construction began. Snow obscures the worst of the roof, but trust me: it's ugly under there. Missing shingles, nonfunctional gutter, dangerous chimney. The elements are all there, ready for their makeover.

Ellie watches as the roofers unpack their trucks. Watching the construction was this week's main curriculum for all the kids.

Ellie peeks over the gate to watch the crane lift a pallet of shingles into our yard.

The backyard, an hour into the work. Clara and Ellie supervise the builders.

Did I mention that it was 20 degrees F on Monday? And that the wind chill was in the single digits? OUCH.

Our main view during these past several days

Our shed! Our lovely, lovely (but ugly) shed. This shed makes living in a teeny tiny house much more bearable.

Look Ma, no chimney!

Our shed has been such a lifesaver, but also a terrible eyesore. No longer! I hereby declare 2010 to be The Year of the Shed. That shed's getting a makeover!

The dumpster, Day 2

The front sidewalk, Day 3 (today)

Here's the front side of the roof, a little worse for wear after days of men walking around on it. And check it out: This man is building our chimney with his own 2 hands!
Do check back tomorrow for more pictures...we're looking forward to seeing the finished roof in the daylight!
